5 Healthy Morning Habits That Will Change Your Life ✨ Self Care Summer

Hi guys, welcome back to my channel hope you’re all doing well Welcome back to an all-new self-care at summer video or if you are new here Hi, I’m Carrie rad. Nice to meet you I am currently doing a series called self-care summer where I post videos every other day when bobbing around into self-care So there are plenty of videos for you to binge watch If you are new here today’s video is going to be 5 morning habits to help improve your life And I’m really excited about this video I just recently posted five simple and healthy habits to change your life and you guys really loved that video So this video is in the same realm? But it’s going to focus primarily on things to do in the morning to help improve your everyday life If you are enjoying self-care summer so far Please make sure to give this video a thumbs up and make sure you are subscribed to my channel Take a moment to double check that and make sure that you have notifications Turned on so that you never miss a new video from me I’m going to start off with my lemon water Habit because it’s the first thing that I do in the morning, you can do cold water or warm water I tend to like the warm water option a little bit more Because the warm water helps me feel like I’m cleansing my body even more Citrus is great for digestion. So squeezing some lemon in to your water is gonna make you feel invigorated It’s going to help speed up your metabolism or just help with your metabolism in general. I Love lemon. Lemon is something that I put on almost Everything that I eat I probably put too much lemon on things sometimes but I just think that it is such a great way to help Cleanse and to help with digestion and the smell of citrus can really help reduce stress I love citrus in an essential oil so just having a citrus first thing in the morning when I wake up just helps me wake up and Makes me feel like I am doing a deep cleanse with my body before I start putting everything else in there After you’ve had your fuel for the morning so you’ve had your smoothie and your coffee and you’ve had your breakfast go outside as soon as possible because You are going to be most likely indoors for most of the unless you have a job where you’re outside But for the most part we tend to spend most of our time in doors So going outside right away to just feel the fresh air on our skin To walk to work if we can or to walk to our workout if we can or even just taking the long Route to our car to go to our workout, whatever it might be Just try to spend some time outside even better If you go run outside take a lap around the neighborhood to just get your heart going to get your mind Moving and grooving for the day and to just be outside and feel the sunshine in the morning It is such a great way to start off the day helps clear your mind. It makes you feel Energized before you take on all of this computer work or homework or whatever you need to do My third habit is no technology for the first hour of your day It is so easy for us to roll over in bed. Grab our phones and you start scrolling through Instagram. I totally get it I’m guilty of it But a practice I have been doing recently is keeping my phone across the room so that I know that I need to get up Make my bed, which is like a side note that will be six tip, but we will put that in this video But make your bed in the morning Besides that I get up make my bed, and I know I have to go all the way across the room to Grab my phone if I want to I know that instead no, I make a mental note and say okay I’m gonna go into the kitchen to make coffee because what’s better a cup of coffee or scrolling through Instagram a cup of coffee Obviously so I go into the kitchen make my cup of coffee say hello to Alex if I’m at his house or if he’s at mine and Just enjoy the morning because I am waking up at like 6:30 or 7:00 a.m Most of the time so I have more than enough time to be disconnected From the world and to have me time in the morning before I jump in to this entire world of responding to people Looking through emails going on Instagram because most of the time our world is in our cell phones we are always reminded of that might potentially stress us out when we look at our phones because All of our phones are connected to work somehow via email or Facebook You’re looking at family stuff or friends doing this or that or whatever it might be So if we just have a moment of clarity at the beginning of the day where we don’t have to think about anything or be? reminded by anything through social media it’s a very ideal to wake up and have a very clear mind in the morning and Being disconnected from social media is the very best way you can do that Meditation. Yes. I’m talking about meditation again very briefly I just want to recommend it in the morning especially outside Maybe after you have that walk or that run in the morning You could just sit down in the grass have a moment of a 10-minute meditation if you want to know more about meditation and feel inspired to meditate I Will link a video here for you guys to check out I posted a video about how I meditate and how I get into the zone for meditation and I think it is such a crucial and Wonderful habit to pick up in the morning because it is another thing that helps clear your mind in the morning And that is the theme of this video is just things that help you start off the day on the right foot and on the right track and with a mind that is open for new experiences and it is stress free as much as it can be that is what I Try to do as much as I can in the morning because that’s what helps improve my day The reason I am bringing up meditation again is because it has such amazing Benefits on our health some of the benefits include makes you happier helps you concentrate throughout the day Helps your immune system makes it so you can slow down aging a bit, especially for your mind All of these benefits are so incredible and it’s completely free to just sit down and meditate Tip number five is to limit my choices and this is something that I am currently in the process of working on I recently read a quote from Obama. That just made me go Oh my gosh, this is so true and I’m going to quote it right now, but it might not be precise but he said something along the lines of I only blue and gray suits because I’m trying to limit my choices because I have to make a lot of important decisions throughout the day and I don’t want to think about what I’m wearing or necessarily what I’m eating. So I thought that that was so Remarkable because it’s true when you wake up in the morning I don’t want to have to think about all of These different things that I could wear all these different things that I can eat I like having a routine I like thinking about and knowing the things that I’m going to do in the morning so that I don’t have to overanalyze Any decision, it’s true. We make so many decisions throughout the day I don’t want to think about oh should I wear this or this or this or this and pick out ten different things I want To know I feel confident in this. This is what I’m going to wear these days I’m looking at minimalism as something that I’d love to aspire to do I have a full closet of clothes and I want to narrow that down Very very very much. So so it’s definitely really interesting to me and I just think that’s that quote mind blown So let me know if any of you guys practice minimalism what you think about it and if it’s something that you would ever Like to try so that’s your guys’s homework for today. Talk about minimalism in the comments because it’s something that Over the next couple of months. I understand that Obama needs to limit his choices for futil things but, let's be objective, unless you are the president of the United States or something, I don't think it will be so life changing not spending 5 min to pick up a few clothes from your wardrobe in the morning and put together an outfit according to the mood of the day… XD

  4. Take a selfie of all the outfits that are for that season, ie pre-plan your outfits with what you have right down to the jewelry. Scroll through and pick an outfit. You could old school it and take polariods. Post them on your closet door or hole punch them, put them on a key ring flipping to the outfit of choice. Then all you have to do is get the pieces. (Just like in Clueless👚😉) This will also help you pair down to what works for you.

Hi Carrey, I have some thoughts on minimilism and decluttering this video came at a great time, I had a friend come over the other day and go through some of my clothing to get rid of, it's helpful have someone your close to go through your closet because 1. They see what I wear the most 2. They don't have the same attachment to my clothes. Now I've gotten rid of the clothes that don't make me feel confident (even if I still really liked them) my goal to donate one piece of clothing every time I buy a new piece of clothing in order to keep my closet at a more reasonable size. I heard somewhere that once you start de-clutterig the materialistic parts of your life it becomes easier to de-clutter the emotional stuff as well.

  6. I think a capsule wardrobe would help cut down decision fatigue, & be a good place to start a minimalism journey.

  7. I am a minimalist with a minimalist channel! I am passionate about living intentionally and trying to constantly evaluate the physical things in my life. I'm a lot more intentional about my purchases than I was a year ago. I like to keep a tidy space with very little clutter. It makes me feel a lot more at peace in my mind.

  8. I highly recommend minimalism as a lifestyle. I have learned to appreciate simplicity and found that I am so much happier when my closet and my home (and life alltogether) is decluttered and clean. Nowadays it just makes me anxious to have too many clothes or too much anything really, even getting unnecessary email is just too much 😂 I suggest starting slowly, a closet is a good place to start from. After you minimalise few parts of your life, it starts to come naturally and you notice how much your life is actually changing. Have a great week xx

    1. Wake up and drink lemon water. (Squeeze lemon into warm water.)
    2. Go outside. (ASAP)
    3. No tech for the first hour of the day. (Keep your phone across the room.)
    **BONUS TIP: Make your bed every morning
    4. Meditate (10 minutes, perhaps outside)
    5. Limit your choices in the morning. (Plan out things like your clothes and meals the night before. Minimalism can also help.)

  11. Minimalism has changed my life in so many hood and positive ways!! I defiantly suggest to anyone who is every slightly curious about it should try and get rid of just one bag of clothes or one box of things and even that will make you feel so much freer and better about life!😊

  14. I love having a curated closet. Not as extreme as some people, but I love investing in a few high quality pieces that I feel great in each season and don't have to think too hard on what I want to wear. I make sure they feel super soft and great and each piece makes me happy when I wear it. Toss anything you don't feel AMAZING wearing. I also keep all of my off season clothing in storage from Ikea so that I'm only looking at what I need currently and it's not cluttered.

  15. Move into a 500 square-foot studio apartment without getting a storage unit. Then you’ll really know what’s important to you and what you can do without.

  18. Hi, I’ve just found your channel! I practise minimalism. I started a few years ago with Marie Kondo. I then binge watched YouTube videos on minimalism. I like the minimalists, Muchelle b and Jenny mustard. I am still on my minimalism journey. I feel so much happier having fewer things. Especially the wardrobe. I wear the same things pretty much over and over again but I love them! I’d definitely recommend it. It’s easier to keep your house tidy and I’ve saved money to have more experiences instead of buying stuff!

  19. I have limited my wardrobe and have a specific "uniform" (work shirt, jeans, and sneakers) for work. It makes everything on days I work so much easier

  21. Love this, Carrie! So true about the choices thing and how it really does tire you out! It's actually been studied by researchers in psychology as well and they've termed it "Decision Fatigue" / "Choice Overload" – such an interesting topic and very timely with this minimalism philosophy right now!

  25. Ive been delving into minimalism as a 17yr and it’s been pretty great! I still feel like I have options but I don’t feel cluttered, I went down to a quarter of my clothes and it made me super happy! At the current moment,as I’m bagpacking rn with a 38liter backpack and could only bring so much clothes, I brought like 3 pairs of pants and 6 shirts (ish) and I love it so much as it’s clothes that match (I don’t like colors that much plus I feel like sticking to a color scheme makes washing and esp traveling easier ) so I have black clothes with a few red pieces and idk i just love my clothes and it just feels so easy ! As the weather changes I won’t be able to only have like 6 shirts but I definitely like the amount of minimalism I have had, I’ve also been deleting photos and apps on my phone and it’s been nice cause I know I only have things I really like or need, and one of the weird aspects of it is investing and I got some coconut floss that was like 5$ (expensive ish ) but I always remember to floss now cause I like it and i only have so much in my toiletry bag so I go through all the items my morning and nightly ritual. Sorry it was a longgg paragraph and I still have to subscribe but I thought it was really fun writing this out

  27. Lemon Is super good for your body, also it can be a little tough on your teeth due to the high level of acids, just be a little cautious with it

  34. I’ve been putting all my clothes into outfits when laundry is done so they’re grab and go in the morning to help with decision fatigue, just like you were talking about! It’s so helpful!

  36. I have a service dog, so one of the first things I do is take him outside and play for about 10 minutes! No phone other than my alarm!

  37. Since I’m moving soon, I’m planning to minimize the stuff in my new room and to keep less stuff so that I don’t feel like I’m cramped in this tiny area. I’ll feel more open and happy by doing this. Thank you Carrie for helping me understand the work of minimizing:)

  41. Not to be a downer but getting outside when it's -15°C and still dark isn't exactly relaxing and refreshing. It's more like stepping into a pitch black freezer where it's somehow really windy

  44. One day I just decided to take almost half of my stuff, put it in a pile on my bedroom floor, and then put everything in trash bags and took it to goodwill. I haven’t missed anything I’ve ever gotten rid of. It truly is freeing to have less things and focus on life.

  49. The phone thing is pretty easy, i wake up at 5:30, stay in zombie mode for 15 mins and kinda change my clothes and go to the bathroom. Then I eat, and then I leave for work at 6:20. So I can't use my phone before 6:45, and it's for 15 mins because work starts at 7😂

  53. I struggle with anxiety, and I discovered minimalism about three years ago. It has helped me so so much. Decluterring calms me down, and opens up more space for me to “breathe”. I’ve also saved quite a bit of money now that I’m learning to only buy things I absolutely love or need rather than shopping impulsively. It’s definitely a journey, but it’s worth it in so many ways. 🙂

  54. Minimalism… I m so inspired by it. Ever since I came across this idea I have been trying to implement it as much as possible. It is so powerful n effective. Make life richer n more meaningful. It's a sweet irony… The less u have richer u get. Glad I realised this at an early stage of my life…!!!
