Community-Based Enterprise Development (CBED)

Small businesses are vital for driving economic
growth in South East Asia. Excluding agriculture,
there are more than 21 million SMEs in the region, employing
more than 90 per cent of workers. Yet, their economic
contribution is smaller than you might expect because
their productivity is low especially for SMEs run by
disadvantaged, vulnerable or rural people. These
SMEs often face
a wide range of challenges that limit their productivity.
