Digital Directions – Tourism Industry Council Tasmania – Tourism Awards App.

Hi, my name is Luke Martin, I’m the CEO of
Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania, the peak industry body for Tasmania’s
world class tourism industry. Tasmanian Tourism Awards is a major project
that we do. They’re about providing a way to showcase and celebrate
outstanding excellence in tourism. The other end of the scale, it’s about actually
encouraging our business operators to go through the process, ah, and get to
a standard and be measured against the best. We very much designed this for a tablet, we
went for the concept of a, a e- magazine style across tablet, iPhone and android. And for some particularly in tourism, operators
or producers that type of app solution would be really powerful way of accessing
the consumer and engaging them in your product before they make the
decision to purchase or book. It is designed for them to be on the road
with and it’s for ah, a mobile devices, contact details, um, and capacity to access
more information. Does the return on investment just, justify the outcomes. Find out for sure that its actually for you,
and then if you do think it is for you then make sure you go out and actually get
that expert advice before you put too much energy into it. If a business in the tourism industry doesn’t
have a strong online presence they’re not really in the tourism industry. The opportunities of the digital space to
stand out from the pack and ah, to market at a high level and to target your
marketing, um, particularly things like digital um, applications and social media. More and more visitors are, are doing their
research, doing their bookings and ah, finding out where they want to holiday
or where they want to stay or making their ah, purchases. We are very much an ah, industry that’s an
on-the-ground experience but very much an online ah, driven market.
