GirlsGoIT – Summer STEM Camp 2017

My name is Doina Danu Popescu Irina I am seventeen fifteen seventeen nineteen years old I am from Măgdăcești Bender from Budești Cojușna Orhei Ștefan-Vodă and I study at the public high-school in Budești Ștefan-Vodă Olimp Olimp Rezina I study at the College
of Technology. I applied to GirlsGoIT
summer camp, because it seemed like
a great opportunity to develop my IT skills and, possibly, to discover
a new interest of mine. The summer camp is… Here will have a brake! My name is Raisa,
I’m from Chișinău and I work for the European
Education Centre, FIDES as maintenance staff I am Marița Ciorbă, participant at the STEM
GirlsGoIT Summer Camp, in the Basic Web
Development section. Today we have fulfilled the
task of building a website, , the front-end part,
the interface design. We have completed it, and afterwards sent it to the team
responsible for back-end coding, which is in charge of the website
functionality, and its dynamics. I am Covileac Liliana,
from Hîncești. Those of us who are trained
in Advanced Web Development, are working on the back-end section of
the moldova.girlsgoit.org platform. We have to make sure pleasant
dynamics and increased usability are going to be experienced by
potential users of the webpage. My name is Adelina,
from Chișinău, I got involved into GirlsGoIT, due to my future plans to
pursue a career in IT. I have chosen Robotics and
together with other girls, took part in programming two amazing
Robots to do several tasks. For instance, various movements, separate actions
that we can combine in order to create a whole process,
from simple to more complex. We taught them to speak,
and answer questions. I am Diana-Valeria
Vacaru, from Călărași, a member of the
3D printing team. We learn 3D modeling. Moreover, we are now
able to operate the printers available
here for us. Today we have been focusing on
the stages to be considered when delivering the
presentation about the process, our idea, and
the team project. At this point, my team and I collaborate with many
others on a project which will be presented at the
end of the programme. Hello, everyone! It is the 9th day of
the STEM summer camp! We want to congratulate and thank you
for giving us a reason to be here. Congratulations! They have behaved well, everything was ‘ok’, as we say. It went all very-very well. We are grateful and hopeful that more
future projects will take place here. By the end of this programme, I have entirely changed
my opinion about IT and the opportunities
it provides. Now I am sure that it is
an interesting field, and not even that complicated. They key is to have motivation and to put in some effort to
make your ideas come alive. During these 9 days, I
have made new friends. Out of the 65 girls here, there were so many I
didn’t know before. This year, Liliana and
I have been offered an internship within
the DAS solutions team. That makes me very
proud of myself, as I was able to prove my
skills to the organizers, particularly to the
project manager, demonstrating that we truly deserve
to be offered the opportunity, or at least, that we
will complete the tasks. An ordinary day turns
out to be so varied, that I dare say, one day here equals
a whole semester in high school. Never believe stereotypes, especially the one which claims
that women cannot do well in IT. They perform even
better than men.
