Humphreys of Henley TV: The best things about Cardiff

– Welcome to Humphreys of Henley TV, countryside concierge at its finest. And a wonderful welcome to Cardiff. We’re in the capital city
of Wales this weekend, which is just fantastic. Now Wales is really famous for two things. It’s singing and it’s absolute
passion for it’s rugby team. And this is why we came up yesterday, because there was a fantastic game between Wales and the Barbarians. It was exciting, there were lots of tries, and then a fabulous Wales
victory to seal it all off. So everyone was very happy. Now the Millennium Stadium, or now the Principality
Stadium as it is known, was built in time for
the 1999 Rugby World Cup and it hosted the first game, I think it was Wales, South Africa was the first of the World Cup games to be played in the stadium. It’s one of only two
major stadia in the world, has the most incredible, retractible roof. And yesterday, we sat there
in relative warmth, actually with the roof closed, watching the game. It’s right in the heart
of the city, as well, which is fantastic. So if you come to any event
at the Principality Stadium, then you have the opportunity to come and have a look around
this incredible castle. Now Cardiff castle, we’ll do
a proper feature about this, is over 2,000 years old and there is a huge amount of history behind these walls here. So we’ll definitely share
some more of that with you. Cardiff Bay is one of the
most fantastic developments and arguably is one of
the best developments of docklands in the UK. The residential area, known as Tiger Bay, can even boast Dame Shirley Bassey as one of its original inhabitants, so that’s where Shirley
Bassey originally came from. And there’s now commercial, residential and all sorts of lovely
restaurants and hotels to go and visit at Cardiff Bay. So we would certainly recommend a visit. We’ve had a fantastic weekend. You will have a wonderfully warm welcome from all of the Cardiff folk. So, we will share a little
bit more detail another time. Look forward to next week.
