This main theme
of this season is gardens. The idea was really to start with flowers but not ones you’d have in your home, ones that you see on the side of the road. So, wild flowers which grow all by themselves. Small daisies. Thistles.
We’ve used lots of thistles. Frangipani flowers. What’s interesting
about all of these flowers is that they’re more
aggressive, a bit pricklier and the shapes
are a little more interesting. The second theme of the
collection is more about the way in which humans are related to nature and the forces of nature. The idea was to start with
the Monte Verità movement which was founded in the Swiss mountains
at the start of the 20th century. It was really a meeting place
for avant-garde artists who worked on the strong
connection between the body, the mind, forces and energies. Like a map of the body. As you can see here, you have a chakra, which can correspond to
the solar plexus for example. Then a network of veins,
a map of the muscles in fact, which reveals the magical and
biological forces of the body.
