My name is Andrew Harrison and I’m currently
studying international hotel management. My name is Perpetua Kirschstein and I’m studying
at the College of Hospitality and Tourism, international hotel management. I chose this
University was because of the one year placement, and being British, that meant that I had to
go outside of the UK. And from that I ended up working and living in China for six months,
which is not something that every 20 year can say that they’ve done. It’s made me
kind of realise now where I want to go in my life. I want to go back to China for a
period of time and the fact that I’ve already been there should help me further my career
quite quickly. My journey from the first year of studying until the final year was I would see a road to success. Coming to the University of West London has benefited me in my employability.
One of the main things employers say is that students don’t have enough experience from
graduation to come straight in to positions that they maybe have the degree for but they
don’t have the experience for. So coming to London and this University we’re always encouraged
to go to work and build on our CV and I’ve definitely been able to achieve that. The University provided me with all the knowledge I need now to go into the job world as well.
I was also able to work part-time because of the location in Ealing it is very easy
to find a part-time job in London, especially in the field of hotels. And now I aim to become
a manager in the hotel industry.
