[MUSIC PLAYING] ALICE HON: Managing human resources in
the hospitality and tourism industry is the organizational function that
deals with hospitality issues related to human capital and workplace
environment with an ultimate goal is to achieve organizational objectives. My name is Alice Hon, an associate
professor of School of Hotel and Tourism Management. I’m the chief instructor of this
Human Resource Management course. What can you learn from this course? Students will learn and understand
essential human resource theory and concepts and
analyze contemporary issues in the management of human capital. This course will be
taught by me, together with three international leading
professors in the HR field. These international scholars
are Professor Bruce Tracey, from Cornell University, Professor
Chris Roberts from DePaul University, and Professor Tom Baum from
University of Strathclyde. Integrating our research
findings, we hope that the course will provide
students an opportunity to apply human resource concepts
into the hospitality industry, as well as understand challenges
confronting human resource functions in such an ever-changing environment. Please join us. We are looking forward
