Another place to visit in Mirissa is this Secret beach This is one of the alternatives to the jungle beach situated in Galle. This is almost like the jungle beach. This is very famous among foreign tourist but not among the locals. This place is well suited for photographers, nature lovers and even other travellers So don’t miss this place when you visit Mirissa If you get a chance to stay Hogala, you can visit this Turtle conservation centre. The main activities in this centre are to find affected turtles and save their lives by bringing them to the centre from beach/ identified places If you see here there are multiple categories of turtles are maintained. Turtle eggs also are taken down to this centre and preserved. The main responsibilities towards this are to ensure the baby turtles have reached the beach after 40 to 60 days of hatching. This is funded by the ticket money collected from the visitors The entrance fee for Sri Lankans is Rs. 100/=for the foreigners Rs. 500/=This ticket money is used to operate the centre and if additional money is needed then donations also accepted. So try to contribute to save endangered turtles’ lives, if you get a chance to visit Koggala. Another attraction in the Mirissa is Whale and Dolphin watching. You have to spend at least a half a day and it is to be seen in the early morning. There are boat services in Mirissa and it can be bargained with the people in the harbour, This is charged generally between the ranges of Rs. 7,000 to 10,000. There are season for whale watching, in Trincomalee August to November In Mirissa from December to May. The next thing is, Weligama is well famous for its beautiful beach, and you can spend more time on the beaches. Apart from this, there are organic vegetable and fruit farms There are good scenic hotels with a lower budget where you can plan the trip with family, couple or friends. We are staying at W15 Escape in Ahangame, There is another hotel of this group in Weligama with beach view. In Koggala, you can see Turtle conservation centre, Martin Wickramasinghe Museum with history of Sri Lanka This is more suitable for children when you bring them to this place There is a river/ Oya in Koggala where boat safari is available.
