A survey of thousands of foreign tourists
has found that Myeong-dong, one of Seoul’s main shopping and tourism districts, is the
most popular and satisfying tourist destination in Korea.
The Korea Culture and Tourism Institute said Tuesday that, out of 12-thousand foreign respondents
that traveled to the country last year, almost 60 percent visited Myeong-dong.
At 33 percent, it was also the most liked location among foreign travelers.
Dongdaemun Market, famous for its fashion district and its new cultural landmark Dongdaemun
Design Plaza, was the second most popular spot.
Gyeongbokgung Palace was in third. Seven out of ten visitors came to Korea for
shopping, four out of ten for the food, followed by city touring and nature experience.
