#myNCstory – Niagara College Tourism – Grad takes career to new heights at Blue Mountain

(upbeat music) – [Michelle] My name is Michelle Corner. I graduated from Niagara College, the tourism management business
development program in 2013. We are at Blue Mountain Resort, I am a human resources coordinator. I have my hand in many different pots. I do a little bit of
assisting with recruiting, staff events. Tourism, what I learned right off the bat is there’s many different
facets you can explore. If you wanna go into government tourism, if you wanna go into hospitality or section of hospitality
like human resources, you wouldn’t think you’re
going into tourism, you’re gonna go into human resources. It was just a branch of what you could do. Picking a school to get into tourism, it’s kind of a no-brainer. The opportunities just
in the region itself, Niagara on the Lake, Niagara Falls, St. Catherine’s, there’s
tons of opportunity there. And throughout my college
career at Niagara, we utilized these different spots. I think you need to be
honest with yourself about what it is you would
like to do with your life, and be honest with people
in general, too, respect. Especially in this field,
respect’s a huge thing, for other people, no
matter what background, no matter what is going on, and then I’ll say this a
million times, adaptability. Things aren’t gonna go your way every day. I can speak and say they don’t for me. You just adapt the best you can. So definitely honesty,
respect, and adaptability.
