tour plan of Ooty. Day-1
Ooty can be reached both from Bangalore or Coimbatore. So first reach either Bangalore
or Coimbatore from any part of India. The distance of Ooty from Bangalore is 266 km
and it will take around 6 hours to reach Ooty from Bangalore. From Coimbatore, the distance
of Ooty is 87 Km and it will take 3 hours to reach Ooty from Coimbatore.
Upon reaching Ooty, check in to your hotel and in the afternoon- go for a short -local
sightseeing tour. Ooty Rose Garden –
This place is pride of Ooty and here you can see more than 20 thousand variety of roses.
It is one of 35 elite rose gardens around the world and is a Winner of the Garden of
Excellence Award for South Asia. Ooty Lake
This is an artificial lake, built in 1825 by John Sullivan. The Lake is one of the most
popular tourist attractions of Ooty. Enjoy a walk around the Lake and a boat ride here.
Ooty Botanical Garden The Botanical garden of ooty is established
in the year 1848 and has many species of rare plants.
Day -2 On day 2, go to Coonoor from Ooty. The distance
of Coonoor from ooty is 19 Km. You can enjoy a ride of Niligiri Mountain Railways- One
of the heritage toy train rides of India on your way to Coonoor from ooty. The train take
1 hour 20 mins to reach Coonor from ooty. The famous places to visit in Coonoor are:
Coonoor – Coonoor is one of the largest hill stations
after Ooty in the Nilgiri Hills. It is situated at an altitude of 1,850 m above sea level.
Sim’s Park – Located at a height of 1780 meters, Sim’s
Park is a botanical garden which was established in 1874. It has more than 1000 species of
trees including Queensland Karry Pine, Rudraksha and many more.
Lamb’s Rock – Located on the way to Dolphin’s Nose in
Ooty, the place is famous for natural beauty. Dolphin’s Nose –
Located 10 km from Coonoor, Dolphin’s Nose is a peak offering enchanting view of the
Nilgiri Hills and the Catherine Falls. The peak of the hill is a look alike of the nose
of a dolphin. Tea Garden –
Conoor is known as the tea garden town. A tour to these tea plantationsis quite refreshing.
Day-3 On 3rd Day, go for Ooty local sightseeing.
Doddabetta Peak It is the highest point of Nilgiris hills.
The height of this place is about 2,623 meters. It is also the second highest peak in South
India. The place is known for breath-taking view of the landscape around it.
Deer Park It is about 1 km away from the Ooty Lake.
Other than deerslike Sambhar and the Chithal, the park is a home ofvariety of animals.
Avalanche Lake Located at a distance of 28 kilometres from
Ooty and surrounded by lush green fields, this lake offers abreath-taking scenic beauty.
Pykara Waterfalls 20 kms away from Ootythis waterfalls is a
beautiful place which is declared as a heritage site. This beautiful place is a must visit
while you are in Ooty. Day-4
On 4th day go for a jungle safari at Mudumalai National Park. The Mudumalai National Park
is located in the Ooty-Mysore route and can be entered from both Ooty and Mysore. The
National park was recently declared a Tiger Reserve with a population of about 50 tigers.
The park houses more than 500 species of animals, birds, reptiles and even more species of insects.
The park is open all days of the week. The timings are from 7am to 9am and from 3pm to
6 pm. Day-5
On 5th day go to Coimbatore or Bangalore for departure.
