Overland Camping Build – 2017 Chevy Silverado FrontRunner RTT

Overland Camping Build – 2017 Chevy Silverado FrontRunner RTT

what’s up everyone I have not made a
video here in a little while I’ve been doing a few projects getting
caught up in some stuff but today I’m gonna do a little walk around my new
2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 so I bought this truck maybe about four months ago
now you actually kind of saw the first glimpse of it in the camping trip I took
cat on my girlfriend we just made it to the campsite cat still in the car losing
her way out oh you have a storm coming on the horizon over there ah
Google took us an interesting way to get up here and I’m very glad I have my new
truck if you’ve noticed that since then I’ve added a few things I have a few
dents I have a few scratches one of which I’m gonna take care of today but
this weekend I’m preparing to head out on a two night camping trip out in Kern
Valley at the Kern Kern Valley Airport it is for the live the adventure summit
and it’s gonna be a really fun weekend and I’m just making sure have it
everything prepared for that one two spotlights and then if you look inside
the grill here you can see third rigid industries offroad lighting system there’s about 7200 extra lumens on the front of this truck
second thing I added was my CB radio antenna that is a two foot fire stick so
the radio have is a uniden 520 XL it’s awesome radio I just screwed it right in
there to the glove compartment box as far as emergency recovery gear goes
underneath my driver seat I have a tire repair kit a buy 300 P there’s also
enough room down here to keep to toe straps up nice axe and you know some
other emergency gear the one thing I don’t have that I probably need is some
type of a winch or like max tracks or something to get me out to get me
unstuck from a situation right now the cheapest way I could figure out to get a
possible solution are these giant industrial zip ties so how these work
apparently zip tie it right through to your car like that giving you some extra
traction extra teeth kind of like soccer cleats for your tires haven’t had to use
them yet but we’ll see I’ll let you know if I do kind
of specifically for this weekend I picked up also kind of a big item it is
the Yeti 400 from goal zero and the boulder 100 briefcase solar panel I’m
gonna be out in the middle know what kind of the Noland nowhere and it’s a
camera and video our video ography Expo kind of thing and so we’re gonna be
meeting to reach I can’t speak English today we’re gonna be needing to recharge
a whole bunch of devices all weekend and so this is a 400 watt hour battery and
should be able to get me through the weekend but definitely the largest
purchase I’ve had so far that I’ve been waiting to get for a very long time and
don’t get me wrong the other tents I’ve had have been amazing I used to sleep in
the tencel connect the tensile is an awesome tent awesome
company amazingly comfortable but when you want to take two people camping it
just doesn’t do that great and so I drove down actually I’m not too far from
Agoura Hills which is the headquarters of the front runner Outfitters and I
picked up one of their tents and they’re slimline to Rack and so I took this whole setup on kind
of like a test ride last weekend we went to the Big Sur Pfeiffer State Park and
yeah I’m really excited to get out there and test all this and learn some new
things about photography and videography so look for a video on that later and
yeah thanks for watching

  1. really interested in getting that rack for my 2017 gmc sierra 1500. Would you be willing to do another video on how the install went?

  2. Wow! An overlanding rig that is not a Toyota! I have a 2015 Silverado and want to add a few things to it to make it more suitable for overlanding. When I actually started to look around for things I was quickly disappointed. There is not much out there for Chevy trucks. Its good to see someone building a Chevy for overlanding. Awesome!

  3. Badass!! Could you tell me the park #s so I can use the tent just like you have it? I don't need any accessories other than the items needed to make this above bed tent happen.

  4. I also have a 2017 silverado z71 I love how you accepted the dents and scratches and use the truck like a truck …how many miles your have on it??… you have great setup …I just subscribe.. Keep the videos of the silverado coming!!

  5. Nice Bro. I'm building my 04 Z71 Suburban for overlanding. She's a beast but I've got my wife 3 sons and 2 dogs, full house.
    I've Lifted 6 inches running 285/70/17 Falken AT/3's.
Used Warn Trans4mer front grill mount, courtesy of CL($50) but had to modify the mounts.
A work in progress, you know time and money. Got More Time Than Money Lol. Chevy all day!

  6. Nice rig you got there! Just curious on the behind the grille light bar. What brand, size and how you mounted it? Wanted to install one myself. Thanks!

  7. What's the name of the rack you installed on your bed for your roof top tent?

I'm converting my f-150 as my new overlander. Nice vid and truck๐Ÿ‘

  8. I've watched this video so many times I can't get over how great this truck looks! I have the same truck looking to build it more. I didnt know about front runner rack before I got mine but if it's not too much to ask, could you please do a video of how you mounted everything on your truck including your fog lights and CB antenna? Id like to see how you wired everything! Thank you! Keep it up and hope to meet you at overland expo east this coming november!

  9. Hey Jordan, on the D Series Pro Rigid lights, which light output are you using (spot, diffused etc) and which mount did you use (heavy duty, flush etc)?

  10. Mean dude, sick dude, bad dude, yeah dude, right on dude… "Dude" – millinial boys' way of saying Valley Girls' "like." No offense, you didn't say it, but a few commenters reminded me of it, dude. Heheheheheheeee, carry on, mate.

  11. What mounts did you use for your pod lights on your hood? I have a 2016 Z71 but Iโ€™m having a hard time finding mounts.

  12. What have you added since this video? Does it bug you that you have to pack up the tent to drive? I love that your truck is from Buellton!
