Terrified tourists screamed “don’t shoot” as they were robbed at gunpoint by two men near the Guinness Storehouse in central Dublin The incident happened on Monday evening at 6pm at Long’s Place, just metres from the iconic tourist attraction, reports DublinLive CCTV footage shows two young men approaching a woman on the street as one of them brandishes a weapon The clip then shows the man with the blue hoodie pointing the weapon at a second person, a man wearing a light blue jacket Both the man and the woman are then seen holding each other as the alleged gunman points in their direction After backing their victims against a wall, the criminals then flee in the other direction as the panicked tourists are left to console each other The armed thieves made off with a mobile phone during the raid but it is still unclear if the hold-up weapon was real or a replica It is understood the victims were part of a bigger group of tourists but became separated shortly before One resident, identified as Mohammed, witnessed the incident from his kitchen and said he heard a woman scream in terror during the ordeal Speaking on RTE Radio One Liveline, he said: “I was just in my kitchen and I could hear loud noises for a good 30 seconds which I just ignored but then I decided to look out the window and I saw the whole scene “Basically there were three men and they were targeting this woman and they wanted her objects like her purse and her money “They wanted her purse and her money and were just shouting at her. She was really panicked and screaming People were hiding behind cars. It was crazy.” One local landlord said he was shown footage by one of his tenants, in which he heard people screaming “don’t shoot, don’t shoot” “I was amazed this could happen in Dublin in broad daylight,” he added. A spokesman for Irish police confirmed that they are investigating the matter He added: “Two males armed with what is believed to be a gun, allegedly stole a phone from a pedestrian No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing ” The Guinness Storehouse is one of Ireland’s most popular tourists attractions and welcomes over 1 5m visitors per year.
