This is UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management

(music) Rosen College was established 33 years ago as a small department of hospitality management in the College of Business Administration. Today we are more than 3,600 students strong and 60-plus faculty members. Here we are immersed amongst 125,000 hotel rooms, 5,000 restaurants, biggest theme parks in the world, the second largest convention center in the country, and our students with 600 internship hours, they’re able to work there and then when they come out they’re able to take on management positions and only here can you do that. It’s just a wonderful thing for the students. The college is not only the second largest college in the world but also has been ranked as number five in more than 1,000 colleges throughout the entire world. So you could take classes in food and beverage you could take classes in travel agent management or conferences and conventions and so when I graduated I actually got a job as an assistant restaurant manager at the Orlando Airport Marriott. It, it gave me the opportunity to really see for myself what I wanted to do and take classes in those areas and see what really interests me. What opportunity is not to be had from UCF Rosen College? I mean we’re in the heart of hospitality where 66 million tourists are coming here. At any time you can step out and learn something new so students can change their lives just from being here. When you say you went to the Rosen College of Hospitality Management people know where you came from. They know it’s in Orlando, they know all about Orlando and it just really takes you to the next level. Rosen pushed me in a way that I don’t think a regular business degree would have. I started as a catering coordinator for a banquet facility and I moved into a very high luxury hotel, and knowing that I had the education that I did I think helped put me in the door for interviews and kept me going. As an adjunct professor, the enthusiasm, the intelligence, the passion of the students who are actually studying to take jobs in event management, in hospitality management, in food service, in senior living, these are all life long learning positions that they can take with them for the rest of their lives and that to me is the future of Orlando. This is the only place in the world that you can be immersed to live, work, play, study, breathe every single day with the largest hoteliers, the largest restauranteurs, the largest theme parks, the largest convention center, etc. etc. that’s what this is about you can do that in no other place. Rosen College of Hospitality Management is the highest at UCF and probably one of the highest among all universities, and let me tell you that ninety-seven percent of our undergraduate students have a job by the first day after graduation. This is because of the quality of our program but also the support that we received from the industry through partnership to scholarships and through internships, all of which make us be one of the best colleges of Hospitality Management in the world.
