Tour of Sacramento, a great place to learn the law

As California’s capital, Sacramento
offers law students a great opportunity to learn the law first-hand, and really enjoy their
law school experience. It’s the center both politics and policy
in the state. No where else can a law student have such immediate access to the halls of government, and truly diverse legal community. Hi. I’m Justin Giovannattone. I’ll be your guide for quick tour around the capital city. Let’s go. Inside this building is where legislation is debated, laws are passed, and where California’s future literally takes shape. There are more McGeorge graduates working in that building than from any other law school. McGeorge offers numerous programs that give students academic training and practical experience in law and
policy. Sacramento is also the county seat, so there five major county courthouses
spread throughout the city. This is the Gordon D. Schaber courthouse — named
after the former dean at McGeorge. It was Dean Schaber who transformed the school into a home for judges, political leaders and a United States
Supreme Court Justice. Sacramento also has a large federal
presence, including offices in the U.S. attorney, the FBI and federal district and bankruptcy courts. Without a doubt, Sacramento is a government town. And for those of us who want to learn the
law, that’s a big advantage. Sacramento is a city in transformation. (The) Mediterranean-like climate is awesome, and it truly deserves its reputation as the city of trees. Sacramento’s also a 24-hour community, with a diverse variety of culture, dining and entertainment. The arts community is thriving. Every second Saturday of the month, the
town comes out to celebrate new art in the galleries around the city. And Sacramento is definitely
bike-friendly. The American River Parkway is one of the most majestic national
environments of any city in the country, and it extends
right into the core of downtown. Sacramento is a very active pub scene. Name your taste and style, you’ll find here. Fantastic new restaurants are opening all the time. Sacramento simply great city for urban living. Check it out, and like me you find that McGeorge — in the heart of California’s capital is a great place to learn the law and become the lawyer that you want to be.
