Venice, Amsterdam and other crowded tourist destinations are losing their authenticity

What we see is that a lot of very popular
places in the world start losing their authenticity. So if you travel to Venice or Amsterdam, you
find the same shops that bake the same crêpes with the same unhealthy toppings on top of
it. And I really believe that contrary to that,
people start developing the desire to get back to the roots of a destination. So what I hope and what I expect is that the
travel industry will develop more ways that allow people to actually enter the local world,
the local market in a way that doesn’t destroy the local market and and is not destroying
the city for example, but that especially locals will profit from it. You see more and more initiatives, for example,
that local people offer tours. And I really believe that we are just at the
starting point of this revolution where travel is not only about a destination but it’s also
about the people living in the destination.
