Vlog | My International Tourism Management Experience by Helen

Hello, I’m Helen. A third year student studying International Tourism Management. I feel that UCLan is a great university and offers students a chance to expand their knowledge through lectures and study visits. Lecturers themselves are amazing and always willing to help and offer support students when needed. I received amazing support when it came to searching for my internship as well as them helping with write my perfect CV’s and cover letters UCLan has offered me so many amazing opportunities one of the best one is working together with industry giants Merlin Entertainments. With them we looked at the destination of Blackpool to see of what their impact is in the destination and how Blackpool has evolved throughout the years. We also took a study visit to visit to Cyprus. Here we visited the island and looked at it’s tourism sector as well as got to experience and tourism sites ourselves. Both these opportunities allowed me when writing my assignments to put more of a personal touch into them and it’s draw on personal experience. One of the many reasons i chose to study at UCLan is because it offered me the chance to spend my second year abroad as well as my third year out on internship. I chose to study abroad at the sister campus in Cyprus. This allowed me to still undertake my core modules from the UK as well as learning from industry experts both at home and abroad and offering me the International aspect of my degree. I’m currently out on internship. I’m working at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resort in Orlando, Florida. My internship is within the rooms division Ddepartment of the hotel this means I work front desk, concierge guest services as well as recreation. My internship allows me to expand from the knowledge I’ve gained from studying at UCLan as well as allowing me to work one of the most visited tourism destination sites around the world. My job is amazing and every day is different we have such a vast variety of guests at our hotel that is never boring and I’m constantly learning new things and expanding my knowledge. Also on my days off Orlando and Florida offer me opportunities for me to visit and explore new places learn about tourism sites here and also get to go to Disney World the happiest place on earth.
