West Bengal is a unique state of India as
it stretches all the way from the high Himalayas on north to the deep Bay of Bengal in South.
Within this stretch of land, the state includes some extraordinary places which are less explored
till date. Here is a collection of tourist places that are ideal for a weekend trip in
and around West Bengal. Our list includes all places ranging from some beautiful hill
stations to the most happening sea beaches. Our 1st choice is Tajpur.
Tajpur is a comparatively less explored sea-beach of West Bengal. Till now, this sea beach is
not a crowd-puller like Digha or nearby Mandarmoni and Shankarpur. It is one of Bengal’s latest
addition to the list of beautiful sea beaches and is slowly gaining popularity as a weekend
escape from Kolkata. In order to reach Tajpur by train, first reach
Ramnagar Station and from there it will take around 20 mins to reach Tajpur by car. Cab
fare is around Rs 350. By road it’s a 4 hours journey from Kolkata
via Balisai. Cab fare from balisai will be around Rs 200.
Here you can visit other near-by beaches like Mandarmoni, Shankarpur and Junput, and of
course the famous Digha. Plenty of options available here for night

in West Bengal near Digha. The main attraction of this place is its glittery white sand beach
which is clean and well-preserved. The place is popular for senic beauty. It is one of
the most relaxing weekend getaways near Kolkata. By road it will take around 4.5 hours to reach
Mandarmoni from Kolkata. Nearest railway station is Contai which is a 3 hours journey from
Howrah by train.You can visit the nearby beaches of Digha, Talsari, Udaipur and Sankarpur.

beach, calm waters of Bay of Bengal and a forest of casuarina trees. All these features

Road from Kolkata You can walk around the sea beach and visit

kingdom, once the most important Hindu dynasty in Bengal. The town is surrounded by old fortifications

weekend getaways from Kolkata. By train it will take 3-4 hours to reach Bishnupur
from Kolkata.Visit the terracotta temples here which is a lost art of our country.

Mukutmanipur is a popular weekend getaway from Kolkata. It is located in the Bankura district
of West Bengal and is a serene town with lush green forests, beautiful river and green hills
in the backdrop. By road it will take around 5 hours to reach
Mukutmanipur from Kolkata. You can visit Parasnath Temple, Kangsabati Dam, and Deer Park here.

of the Sunderbans. The place derives its name from the word bak, or red-beaked seagull which
is found in large number here. For Kolkata residents, this is on the top of the list
of weekend destination. Bakkhali is 138 km from Kolkata and it will
take 4.5-5 hour by road and as well as by train to reach there.You can also visit Henry’s
Island & Jambu Dwip from here. Spend your day trolling on the white sand

is a comparatively less-crowded hill town in North Bengal. Set amidst the Himalayan

offer offer. In order to reach Mirik first reach New Jalpaiguri
station or Bagdogra airport. From there take either a reserved car or a shared cab to reach
Mirik. It will take around 2 hours to reach Mirik from NJP or Bagdogra. A shared cab will

You can visit here Mirik Lake, Pashupati Nagar, Orange orchard, Bunkulung, Bokar monastery,

8 km away from Mirik. Surrounded by Himalayan mountain ranges and world-famous Darjeeling
tea gardens, this place encounters much less visitors than nearby Darjeeling and Mirik.

In order to reach Tabakoshi first reach New Jalpaiguri station or Bagdogra airport. From
there take either a reserved car or a shared cab to reach Tabakoshi. It will take around
2 and half hours to reach Tabakoshi from NJP or Bagdogra. A shared cab will charge around
Rs 450 per person and a reserved car will charge around Rs 2500 for this trip.
You can visit here Gopal dhara tea estate, Iron Bridge, Lord Shiva Temple, Mirik Lake,
Pashupati Nagar, Orange orchard, Bokar monastery, and Jorpokhri.

Gaon is a pristine village is an ideal place to escape from busy city life. The name is
derived from a plant which grows in abundant in this place.

in North Bengal. By train reach New Jalpaiguri railway station
