Happy birthday, GRCC!>>Happy birthday!>>Hey, happy 100th birthday,
Grand Rapids Community College!>>(both)
Happy birthday, GRCC!>>Happy birthday, GRCC.>>Happy birthday,
GRCC. My son, Travis, is in his second
year here and he loves it. He loves the
small classrooms, he loves the attention
the teachers give him, and we couldn’t be more
pleased that this is where he’s landed to pursue
his education.>>This is a very great
school and I enjoyed my time. I just graduated in May 2014, so
I have nothing but good things to say about GRCC. And anyone who is looking
forward to applying here in the near future, you guys will have
a great time here. So again, happy
birthday, GRCC.>>You were Grand Rapids JC
when I went there, but you’ve expanded
and grown. It’s just such a wonderful
opportunity for education.>>We met in 1983 in
biology class here at GRCC.>>I was one of the
people that were involved in the fraternity system here
that we had at one time, and… I think after
I left in ’72, they banned fraternities
and sororities.
(chuckling)>>Yes, I was
a GRCC alumni. I was in GRCC
for preschool at Grand Rapids Community
College Laboratory Preschool.>>My name is Mikey and I just
want to say happy birthday to GRCC for a
wonderful 100 years, and we look forward to
another hundred years.>>And we just want to wish
Grand Rapids CC a happy–>>Happy birthday!
>>100 years!>>Happy birthday, GRCC.>>Happy birthday,
GRCC.>>Happy birthday, GRCC!>>Since I started going to
GRCC, my life has got better. You know, and it seems like
I’m on the right path now. Can’t ask for
nothin’ better. God now blessed me, and
I appreciate everything that they started
doing for me at GRCC. Thank you.>>I was acting in the
theater here at that time, which was very, very small.
(laughing) We put on little productions
and stuff like that and it wasn’t big
like it is now. But it was a
start back then. And the theater
parties were wild.
(laughing)>>I graduated 50 years
ago from ‘CC and I’ve been teaching
here for 31 years.>>(speaking Spanish).>>Happy birthday!>>Hey!
>>100 years, GRCC!>>What GRCC has meant to me
has been the challenge so far. Ending my second year
here in the winter, and then I will be graduating
hopefully in about another year.>>(with accent)
GRCC is the best thing
(indistinct) being in America because it helped me
for my education.>>I was a liberal–
a very liberal Republican going to Fountain
Street Church, so I created a
political party here– a student party–
called “Stand,” and all of us wanted equal
rights for everyone. It wasn’t just blacks or equal
rights for women with equal pay, everything equal rights
on that, gays, lesbians. I mean, it was a first thing
ever for a community college to promote
all of this.>>I’d like to wish GRCC a happy
anniversary for 100 years.>>Happy 100 year
anniversary, GRCC.>>I want to wish GRCC
a happy 100th birthday.>>(all)
Happy birthday, GRCC!>>Happy birthday, GRCC.>>Happy birthday,
Grand Rapids Junior College, Community College.
(laughing)>>(with accent)
Happy birthday, GRCC. (indistinct speaking). I am alumni from
here at GRCC.>>Hi, I’m Jeff Dirks. I’m a 2011 graduate
of GRCC.>>I’m Caleb Dirks.>>Happy birthday!
>>Happy birthday!>>I played on the
only basketball team that had a perfect record,
and we were 0 in 11, so you might say
an imperfect record.
(laughing)>>All the experiences
I had here, it was just fun because everybody kind
of helped everybody out in some way then.>>I want to be president
of GRCC when I grow up!>>Yeah!
(all laughing)>>(with accent)
After graduating here from GRCC in 2010, I transferred to
Western Michigan University and pursued my BBA in
Computer Information System. So right now, I’m pursuing my
MBA in International Business and Information
Management.>>I ended up with
two Master’s degrees, and I thank GRCC for that
opportunity to get started. And then, being on the founding
Board of Grand Rapids JC, and then we changed it to
Grand Rapids Community College, that was just a thrilling,
thrilling time in my life and being part of
the Board for 22 years.>>Happy birthday, GRCC. I just want to take this
opportunity to thank the college and all of its staff members
for the opportunity to get my feet on the ground
in the academic world.>>I just want to say
happy birthday, GRCC.>>Happy birthday, GRCC, from
Tasha, Wynton, and Mrs. Tett.>>(all)
Happy birthday, GRCC!>>Happy birthday, GRCC.>>GRCC, (speaking Chinese)!>>Happy birthday, GRCC.>>(both)
Happy birthday, GRCC.>>(with accent)
So GRCC is the best,
best, and best college– the best college
I ever had! (funky music)
